Craziest Game of My Life

(This ended up being a goal, by the way)

I've been to countless Flyers games in my time, but never have I witnessed one quite like this.

Sure, I was at Game 4 against the Bruins last year in the playoffs when Gagne scored his overtime winner to get the comeback started. I was even at the game when the Flyers clinched Eastern Conference Champions with the win over the Canadiens, but this was beyond that....

Here's the setup. We got to the game late because of the traffic. Consequently, we missed the first two goals by the Flyers. Little did we know that SEVEN more were to come between the two teams in just the first period. For those of you who don't watch hockey, the average goals scored per game is probably somewhere around 4 or 5. There was a total of 9 goals in just the first period. The lead ended up changing several times as one team would score after the other. Both teams ended up changing their goalies, something that is rarely seen.

The NHL record for most goals scored in a game by two teams is 21, set back in 1920! Scoring a goal back then wasn't as impressive as it is now. There was a combined 15 goals in the game last night. Some players don't even score 15 goals in their careers.

In the end, however, Stamkos ended up shitting all over us with his hat trick and two assists. Just like I said in my previous post, we needed to contain him and we didn't.

It sucks to lose a game when you score 7 goals....it sucks a lot.

Flyers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Since I'm going to the game tonight, I figured I would do a short preview of it.

The Philadelphia flyers (12-5-2) are taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning (9-7-2) tonight.
The Flyers come into this game following a rather embarrassing 3-0 loss on Tuesday to the Canadiens. However, the Flyers are looking to defend a 7 game winning streak at home coming into tonight's game. Meanwhile, the Lightning are coming off a much needed win over the Islanders last night, so they are likely to have some momentum from that.

One other thing going against us is that the Lightning have the offensive leader on their team, Steven Stamkos. He leads the league in goals (16) and points (30). He also had 2 of those points in the last game, so the big guys on our blue line need to do a good job of containing this potent weapon.

One thing I'm kind of upset about is Simon Gagne's injury. I was looking forward to seeing the long time Flyer (now a member of the Lightning) come back and play in this building again. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to eat more $1 hot dogs. I'm pumped to go tonight!!!

Had to end sometime....

Well.....the point streak is finally over. But you can't win 'em all right? The Flyers finally lost their edge and fell to the Montreal Canadiens last night, 3-0. It feels bad to lose to some French pussies in their own building, but then I just think of the playoff series last year and how I was at the game when we clinched the series 4-2 and saw Mike Richards hoist the Prince of Wales trophy.

In other news, I'll be going to the game on Thursday night vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning!! It's dollar dog night and since I'm not old enough to drink, I'll be stuffing my face with wieners (no homo). Should be a fun game.

PS - P.K. Subban is a cocky dumbass who's gonna get his. Bitch.
PPS - I thought this picture was pretty appropriate haha

NHL All Star Game!!!

Voting for the All Star game opened today. 5 Flyers made the list (Briere, Carter, Richards, Pronger, and Timonen). A few Flyers I would love to see in the all-star game are Giroux and Bobrovsky.

You can vote here and you can vote up to 30 times a day. You should use the "write in" feature to add other players (like Giroux and Bob!!) to the ballot. I've already voted several times for the Fly guys and I think you should too!

Jeff Carter: The $58 Million Dollar Man

Well as you may know, the Flyers locked up Jeff Carter with an 11 year $58 million contract deal. So, like him or not, Carter is going to be with us for 11 more years at least. This is the second big signing by the Flyers this week...The incredibly skilled Claude Giroux signed a 3 year $11.25 deal earlier this week. Homer is making all the right moves right now. Keep all the young players in the organization and we are guaranteed talent for years to come

Bob vs. Caps

So since Bob is pretty much carrying our team, I'm gonna start referring to us at the Philadelphia Bobs until he slips up, which I have feeling isn't going to happen anytime soon. As you should know, Bob is now on a 6 game winning streak. He's looking to tie Philly's record of consecutive wins by a rookie goalie (7 by Pelle Lindbergh in the 82-83 season) against Ovi and the Caps. This isn't going to be easy unlike the pushover Islanders. Ovechkin is essentially regarded as the best player in the world right now, so this will prove to be quite the test for young Bob. But, I have faith in him. As long as the boys don't start out slow like we are so prone to doing, I think we will be able to keep up with the offensive onslaught that is so typical of the Caps. Washington is currently 2nd in the league in goals per game, averaging 3.31. Bob has a serious test ahead of him. Will you be watching the division leaders square off tonight? I will.

Sergei "Bob" Bobrovsky - Who is this kid?

Sergei Bobrovsky was just some random Russian kid to about 90% of the hockey world before this year. Now, he's pretty much loved by all Flyers fans. Bob has 5 consecutive starts and the Flyers are on a 5-game winning streak. Coincidence? No way in hell. This kid is insane!! He's posting a .921% save percentage and a 2.23 GAA. These numbers aren't too impressive, but when you consider the fact that he is a 22 year old rookie who can barely speak a few words of English, I'd say that's pretty damn good. In Philly, the fans opinion of a player is almost just as important as the coach's, and right now the fans are 100% behind this kid. Is Bob gonna be the answer to our goalie struggle? Can we turn this young, relatively unknown Russian player into a franchise goalie? I sure hope so.
